Second week in training…

My second week of training has nothing special to report. I was only able to run outside once because of the rain all week, so here are the RunKeeper results.

I’m now able to run 3 laps no problem. While I’m still really far away from the goal of 6.2 miles, or just about 12-13 laps, I am making progress. I have 7 weeks to go. If I increase one lap a week I’ll be up to 10 laps. Considering the runner, that would just be absolutely amazing.

I’ve found that weather makes a huge difference in the quality of your run. On sunny, blistering hot days, I find myself sweating and gasping for air a lot more than on cloudy cool days. Perhaps, I need to start running either early in the morning or late at night. I’m not sure which is better at this point. Suggestions?

When running inside on my elliptical, I realized that increasing the intensity will help simulate running outside. So long as you actually have to work to make the wheels go round, you’ll have a worthwhile experience. Also, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is something to have fun with on the elliptical. Sprint for 30 seconds, then walk for a minute and 30 seconds. Doing this for 10 – 20 minutes really gets you working.
