My third week of training…

Marathon If you haven’t been following the blog, here is a little catch-up:

At the end of August I decided to sign up for a 10k benefit race. My fiancĂ© convinced me that I’d be fine, and it would be a fun thing to do. My first mistake was believing her! After signing away my life, I decided to give myself a little endurance test to see how bad things were going to be. I quickly learned that things were going to be bad… very bad, actually. I could barely get around the block twice before I nearly keeled over and died.

Second week in training…

My second week of training has nothing special to report. I was only able to run outside once because of the rain all week, so here are the RunKeeper results.

I’m now able to run 3 laps no problem. While I’m still really far away from the goal of 6.2 miles, or just about 12-13 laps, I am making progress. I have 7 weeks to go. If I increase one lap a week I’ll be up to 10 laps. Considering the runner, that would just be absolutely amazing.

I’m running a 10k!

I don’t know what I was thinking when I agreed to this, but I’m signed up to run in a 10k. The race, Run The Bridge, is on November 1st and costs $25 if you sign up now. Signing up for this is only ridiculous because I’m not a runner by any means. My running capability extends to 45 mins of jogging on an elliptical. So how do I plan on surviving this?

Hopefully, I’ll survive by learning from other people and properly preparing. In order to figure out where I stood, I had to go for my first run outside.
